Semiotic study on verbal sign of the original soundtrack from the greatest showman movie

This research aims to analyze semiotics found in the soundtrack of the Greatest Showman. This analysis determines the semiotics in the form of meaning, connotative and denotative on several soundtracks that were shown in the film the Greatest showman. The type of data used is all sentences, snippets, and especially song lyrics so that the verbal meaning can be analyzed using the procedure of downloading movies, watching, and searching for the verse of the song that you want to analyze its meaning with the semiotic theory by Roland Barthes and Charles Pierce. The results showed that there are four verbal meanings that can be found, including racism, discrimination, class differences, and realizing dreams from existing soundtracks such as The Greatest Show, A Million Dreams, Come Alive, The Other Side, and Never Enough. In conclusion, there is no denotative found in the lyrics and one of the connotative meanings there is nothing that can stop dreams with the meaning of the symbolic power of dreams to take over everything.
