One of the interesting areas of translation to be discussed and still debated by experts is the translation of poetry. Poetry is one of the literary works that has its own characteristics and uniqueness, not only in the form of words that are dense in meaning but also contains aesthetic values (diction, metaphor, imagery, and figurative language) and expressive values (rhyme, rhythm, and language). Poetry translation is a difficult translation because the translator not only translates words or sentences into the target language but also how the translator restores the aesthetic value and expression of poetry. While the purpose of this study is to describe the method used by Chairil Anwar in translating the poem A Song of The Sea by Hsu Chih Mo. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the translation of the poem "Come Dara, Lost Dara" by Chairi Anwar which was translated from the poem "A Song Of Laut" by Hsu Chih Mo, uses many adaptation methods and is free in translation. This shows that the adaptation method and free translation is suitable for translating literary works, including poetry. Furthermore, these two methods are also generally used to reproduce the contextual meaning of the original text accurately while maintaining the aesthetic value and expressive components, as well as the distinctive choice of words in the translation. This is done by the translator as efforts to change the point of view and transfer the appropriate form of the source language into the form of the target language.
