The aims of this study are to analyze the lexical cohesion devices and
enumerate the degree of cohesiveness in technology news text on BBC ENewspaper
entitled How to build the next-generation of Internet? published on
October 13, 2017. The main focus of this research is on lexical cohesion devices
with the theory proposed by Halliday and Hasan. Descriptive qualitative method
is used to describe the lexical cohesion devices contained in this object. Through
this method, the lexical cohesion devices found in the article is categorized and
analyzed. In addition, Scinto‟s formula also applied to determine the degree of
cohesiveness in the text. The cohesion devices found in the whole article are
85,2% of repetition, 5% of synonym, 6,6% of superordinate, 1,6% of general
word and 1,6% of collocation. Furthermore, this study discovered that the article
has a high degree of cohesiveness.
