This research was aimed at finding out the translation procedures in English-Indonesian subtitle of Peanuts movie thatfocused on the subtitling translation. The researcher took Charlie Brown’s dialogue for the corpus of the research.
A qualitative method study was used as a conceptual framework for collecting the data. In order to systematically conduct the study, one hundred and twelve of Charlie brown’s dialogue in the Peanuts movie were selected by using sampling method as used thirty sample of data to analyze.
The findings obtained from the analysis show that there are eleven translation procedures used in the film subtitle based on Newmark theory, those are: literal, transference, cultural equivalent, shift, compensation, reduction, modulation, expansion, paraphrase and the combination of procedures such as couplets and triplets. Finally, from the result of the research, the further study about subtitle translation is expected to conduct more comprehensive analysis of its translation procedures.
