This thesis aims to determine the cause of damage to the fiction collection, preservation process, and constraints faced by the public library of Depok City in carrying out the preservation of the fictional book collection. This research is a descriptive study using qualitative research approach methods. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observations and documentation. The informant in this study amounted to four people consisting of the head of the library section, the Preservation section, and two persons of the service charge. The results showed a breakdown of the collection that took place every day about 15 books and more came from the library around. The type of fiction that often has damage is the novel and the most severe damage that is missing the page. The factors of the fictional book are human factors, lack of good paper quality and biological factors. The process of preservation of fiction books in the prevention is a priority in the provision of plastic covers in the fictional collection. There are also constraints in the preservation of fiction books that are limited human resources, no special budget, as well as librarian knowledge about preservation is still minimal. The solution is done by librarian preservation by making equipment such as tools for book press
