This research discusses about the competence of the utilization of children’s toys
collection in BPAD DKI Jakarta. The purpose of this research is to know how
chidren experience in the untilization of the children’s toys collection in the
library which identified from aspects of experience, feelings and meaning. The
Utilization of a collection of toys is a thing that has not been much studied its
existence. In this research, the research of the phenomenon of the collection of
toys found in the library using phenomenology method which is a method that
examines how one's experience of an event that is the use of a collection of toys in
the library. This research took place at the Badan Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah
DKI Jakarta with informants who are children with 5-12 years age range. The
informants of this research are the children who utilize the children’s toys
collection in BPAD DKI Jakarta with a total 10 informants who is library user for
children services. The technique of data collecting is done by interview. This
research focuses on three things: experience, feeling and meaning. The results of
this research focus on three things and produce themes, namely: the theme of the
experience there utilizing a collection of toys is a fun experience and interaction in
the utilization of a collection of toys. In the theme of feeling there are various
feelings that arise when utilizing a collection of toys that is happy, difficult and
desire. The last is on the theme of meaning is the meaning in the use of a
collection of toys.
