This research aims to analyze how conversational implicature occurs and to explore
the meaning of conversational implicature in the movies Deadpool (2016) and
Deadpool 2 (2018). In this research, the researcher uses a qualitative method. The
data in this research are collected through documentation techniques. Then, the data
will be analyzed using Grice's theory of conversational implicature. Based on the
data obtained, there are 20 data that contain the conversational implicature. The
results of this research show that these data do not observe the cooperative
principle; the maxims of quality, quantity, relation, and manner. The violations
include flouting, violating, and infringing the maxims. In conclusion, the
conversational implicature is generated by not observing the cooperative.
