The research presented here concentrates on Rue Bennett, the main
character of the Euphoria film series. Using Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic
theory as a guide, the purpose of this research is to discover the structure of Rue
Bennett's personality and to examine the defense mechanisms that she employs. In
this study, qualitative methods and descriptive analysis are used as a tool for
analyzing data using psychoanalytic theory connected to personality structure and
defense mechanisms in films. This theory is integrated into the study through the
use of these methods. The information is extracted from the film's dialogue as
well as the images in the movie. According to the findings, Rue Bennett a teenage
girl who is currently 17 years old, has developed a reliance on the use of drugs in
order to alleviate the excessive anxiety that she experiences. As a consequence of
this, Rue's anxiety illness has led to an imbalanced personality structure as a
reaction of the disorder. When it comes to the things that cause her to have
nervous or panic feelings, her id takes precedence over her superego. Rue's
personality undergoes changes over time, causing her to engage in self-seeking in
an effort to rid herself of excess anxiety and become a better person than
ever.Even while Rue engages in some defense strategies, such as denial,
projection, and fantasy. These are not sufficient for her to overcome her traumatic
experiences and feelings of anxiety.
