No image available for this title
This research aims to find out the modern human slavery in the Get Out (2017) film from white people to black people. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative method and the semiotic theory by Roland Barthes which only focuses at the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth by analyzing scenes and dialogues in this film as a sign. Through the signs that appear in this Get Out film, there are aspects of racism and discrimination against black people where white people commit slavery in the form of modern human slavery. The slavery of black people that occurs in this film is not directly carried out by white people from the beginning, but after the relationship between white and black people is quite good and close, that's when they do their real intention to make black people into slaves by hypnotizing them. In conclusion, the act of modern human slavery is a thing that is forbidden to be done between fellow human beings because all human beings in this world have the same and equal rights to live without having to look at any factor like a race factor.
