Khalimatul Mauludiyah, An Analysis Of Donald Trump`s Commissive Speech
Act in USS Yorktown on December 7, 2015. Thesis: English Letters Department,
Letters and Humanities Faculty, State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah,
Jakarta, 2016.
This research focuses on the analysis of the commissive speech act uttered
in YouTube by Donald trump campaign speech in the state of USS, Yorktown, he
stated that he will forbid Muslims enter the United States, the speech has implicit
meaning. And the meaning can understand by using pragmatics. In conducting
research, the writer used qualitative research methods. In the entire qualitative
research process, the researcher keeps a focus on learning the meaning that the
participants hold about the problem or issue, not the meaning that the researchers
bring to the research or that writer express in the literature. The author listens to
the content of the speech and then, observing and pay attention to details, as well
as understand the whole sentence in the speech while collect the data. Through the
results of the analysis of sentences delivered Donald Trump in his speech, it can
be concluded that in a speech found speech use commissive illocutionary act,
which it is classified into Commit, promise, threaten, refuse, assure, guarantee,
and bet, and it uttered indirectly.
