This thesis is aimed at finding out the meaning or the message of advertisement posters by seeing the relationship between the message of the symbol and the message of the icon. The message of the symbol and the icon (it is called interpretant) are produced by the relationship between the representamen and the object. They are described and explained by semiosis processes using Charles Sander Peirce’s theory or known as Peircean Model of Semiotics. There are sixteen advertisement posters: eight Converse advertisement posters and eight Vans advertisement posters are analyzed in this research. The technique analysis used in this research is the descriptive method. In short, it is found that each poster has different idea to tell the readers or the viewers what the message is. All analyzed posters tells the readers or the viewers about Converse and Vans’ benefits and the reasons why they are worth-to-buy and worth-to-choose.
