This research discusses standard metaphor translation in James Dashner novel entitled “The Maze Runner.” Here the researcher studies the novel as the unit of analysis. The theory of standard metaphor translation that developed by Peter Newmark and it used as the theoretical framework of the research. Moreover, the method of data collection is descriptive qualitative, which tries to explain about the translation of standard metaphor that occurs in the novel. The first step is collected the sentence that contain of standard metaphor then followed by classifyng them into procedure of standard metaphor translation. After finishing the process of classification, the researcher focuses on analyzing those procedure. From all the steps, the researcher is able to classify the sentence into standard metaphor translation. The result of this study shows that most of the procedures of standard metaphor that occurs in novel The maze Runner is Replacing the image in the SL with a standard TL image. There are: 2 Reproducing the same image in the TL using a exact equivalent of the original metaphor, 4 Replacing the image in the SL with a standard TL image, 2 Translation of metaphor by simile, 1 Translation of metaphor (or simile) by simile plus sense, or occasionally metaphor plus sense, 1 Conversion of metaphor to sense, 1 Deletion, 1 Translation of metaphor by the same metaphor combined with sense. That the majorities procedure translation of analyzed standard metaphor in this novel is Replacing the image in the SL with a standard TL image.
