This research is aimed to find out the formation of Anastrophe patterns causing irregularity in arranging the poem and also to depict the forms of transformation that make up the Anastrophe patterns resulting topicalization on the poem by generative transformational grammar theory. The data are collected from the poem authored by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The methodology used in this research is qualitative method and the writer applies syntactic and pragmatic functional approach to solve the issue in this research. As the findings, the irregularities caused by anastrophe patterns mostly occurred by adverb inversion, full-verb inversion, adjective following the noun it modifies, and the object preceding its verb. The transformations explain the irregularities process from its deep structure of the sentences until the surface’s one through T-Supp, T-AdvP, TRel, T-RelRed, T-Prt, T-Q, and T-Infl. In conclusion, the irregularities occur in the poem caused by anastrophe patterns still can be explained through Chomsky’s generative transformational grammar.
