This research examines the female empowerment and resistance depicted in Wolfwalkers from ecofeminist perspective. Using a descriptive qualitative method and Vandana Shiva’s theory of ecofeminism, this research focuses on analysing the female characters, Robyn and Mebh, as central figures representing both personal liberation and environmental activism in the film. Through the analysis of the two characters, this research reveals several key findings. First, Robyn, a human girl, and Mebh, a Wolfwalker, demonstrate a contrasting dynamic with nature, shaped by the difference in surrounding environment and experiences of the two. Second, both characters are targets of marginalization and oppression by patriarchal systems, symbolising the interconnected marginalization of women and nature. Third, this marginalization drives Robyn and Mebh to form a collaborative act of empowerment and resistance to reach their personal liberations as well as protecting and preserving the natural world. Ultimately, this research emphasizes the importance of collaboration, solidarity, and collective resistance in addressing gender oppression and environmental degradation. This research contributes to the growing discourse on ecofeminism in media studies and offers a critical perspective on the role of storytelling in shaping social and ecological consciousness.
