This research aims to investigate the types of language styles used in Barbie film and investigate more deeply social context contributions to the language style choice in Barbie film. The method of the research uses qualitative descriptive analysis. The data collection techniques of this research are watching, understanding, collecting, and sorting. The data analysis techniques used are classifying, interpreting, and concluding the results. In this study, the researcher used the theory of five language styles proposed by Martin Joos, including frozen, formal, consultative, casual, and intimate. Furthermore, the researcher also employs Janet Holmes' social factors concept namely participant, setting, topic, and function. The result of this study is there are four language styles used in the Barbie film, which are formal, consultative, casual, and intimate. Meanwhile, the frozen-style feature is not used in the Barbie film. Moreover, the social factors that influence the use of language styles do not work individually but work together, sometimes one of the social factors is not too influential on the use of language styles. In addition, the gender factor also affects the production of the participant's language style. The researcher concludes that social factors have a strong influence on someone's language style in conveying a message that works simultaneously and intertwines with each other. Additionally, the inherent gender of the participant affects women tend to use intimate styles in their communication to show intimacy and men tend to use formal or casual styles to show their status.
