Translation techniques for swear word and their equivalence in film No Hard Feelings

This research aimed to identify the technique translation and how it deals with the equivalents of swear words in film “No Hard Feelings” (2023). The method of the research is qualitative method. To analyze the translation, the researcher used a translation technique and translation equivalent to translate the swearing words of the “No Hard Feelings” movie. The translation technique used in translating swearing words in the film is only 8 of 18 types category based on Molina and Albir theory, which are Adaptation (29), Borrowing (1), Generalization (1), Discursive Creation (3), Establish Equivalent (2), Literal Translation (5), Modulation (1) and Reduction (15). The translation technique that is often used by the translators is an Adaptation technique, which accounts for 29 of 57 data units. While for the equivalence, the researcher used Nida and Taber theory of equivalent translation, and Dynamic equivalent is the most used in this research.
