This thesis focuses on the lack of love and belonging needs in the pyramid of the hierarchy
of human needs. This thesis aims to describe the main character's lack of love and belonging and
to investigate the way she fulfills her needs with the existence of artificial intelligence in the I Am
Mother film. The data are analyzed qualitatively using Abraham Harold Maslow's hierarchy of
human needs theory. Based on the film's analysis, the researcher finds that artificial intelligence
has a significant influence on the main character's sense of a lack of love and belonging. The main
character began to feel a lack of her love and belonging needs in four forms, such as family
relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, community and social groups. The researcher
then finds two strategies the main character employs to fulfill her needs. First is by giving and
receiving love or affection from Mother as an artificial intelligence robot and Woman as a human.
Second is by the search for a sense of belonging which led Daughter to find a way to start a life
that fully fulfills her needs to other humans in the larger aspect of love and belonging needs.
