This study aims to explore the patterns of misogynistic discourse, the influence of
power and access dimensions in relation to social and cultural contexts, and the impact
of misogynistic discourse reporting on women and online communities formed by
TMZ news journalists. The method used in this research is qualitative method of the
news article about the Cassie and Diddy case, with a focus on critical discourse analysis
and the gender-trolling. Based on the analysis, there were 22 of data obtained by the
researcher. The research results show that the choice of diction is influenced by
ideology, social cognition, and the social context of TMZ journalists that form the types
of misogyny discourse in the news Diddy Sued By Ex-Gf Cassie Alleged Rape, Abuse,
Human Trafficking are rape and death threats, revenge porn, victim blaming, and mob
attacks. TMZ journalists form patterns of misogynistic discourse to express the use of
derogatory language, perpetuate stereotype culture, and raise themes of blaming the
victim to undermine women's achievements. In conclusion, this research shows that in
the social and cultural context, the theory of critical discourse analysis helps reveal the
influence of the dimensions of power and access related to the tendency of journalists
to prioritize certain roles in forming social norms and the influence of media that
supports misogyny, and the impact of the tendency of a media can cause negative
experiences physically and psychologically that create the toxic discussion culture for
women.
