This research aims to examine the potrayal of the main character named
Cassandra Thomas and the depiction of the woman resistance in Promising
Young Woman (2020) movie. The writer used the qualitative method with
descriptive analysis in this research. The theory of character and characterization
by Petrie and Boggs is used to show Cassandra Thomas’ characterization and the
theory of resistance by James Scott is used to explore Cassandra Thomas’
resistance. This research points out Cassandra Thomas as a woman who dedicated
her life to gaining justice for the sexual assault case by extinguishing hegemonic
masculinity toward women. Moreover, this research examines woman resistance
which categorized based on two kinds of resistance called public resistance and
disguised resistance. Cassandra's public resistance is depicted in resentment action
by wrecking the catcaller's car windshield and uttering threatening words to the
sexual predators. Furthermore, Cassandra's disguised resistance is reflected by
using a well-prepared trap to catch the sexual predators and reverse the victim's
experience toward the sexual assault enabler.
