This study examines the discrimination towards women as a result of power relations that
occur in the workplace as well as women's resistance to such discrimination depicted in the
miniseries Lessons in Chemistry (2023). This study utilizes qualitative research methods and
applies Michel Foucault's theory of power relations in the concept of disciplinary power. The
results of the study show that power relations in the workplace, especially between supervisors
and their female coworkers, play an important role in giving rise to gender discrimination. Gender
differences are considered as the basis for determining positions, assignments, and career
development opportunities. Female employees are often subjected to sexist behavior and tend to
be placed in positions and tasks that are deemed appropriate to their gender, while male employees
can get wider opportunities. This imbalance in power relations then leads to discrimination
towards female employees, especially Elizabeth. The research argues this miniseries shows that
discrimination towards women occurs due to power relations in the workplace that are more
favorable to men. Therefore, from these disadvantageous power relations, women's resistance to
gender discrimination that occurs in the workplace is then established.
