The focus of this research is to identify and reveal how the anti-hero traits promote self-
acceptance present in the main female character, Harley Quinn, in Birds of Prey (and The
Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) movie. The research used a qualitative method
of content analysis with the concept of anti-hero as the theory while the data obtained from visual
observations, activities, and dialogues in the movie is collected and identified for further
analysis. Based on the data analysis, the research showed that Harley Quinn's anti-hero traits:
morally ambiguous and sense of empathy and love, correlate with the concept of anti-hero.
Harley's anti-hero characteristics contribute to her increased self-awareness of her emotions.
These characteristics also empower her to confirm others' interpretations of her without
internalizing them, enabling her to recognize that she does not conform to the conventional hero
archetype because of her moral ambiguity. As a result, Harley's anti-hero characteristics enable
her to achieve a state of total self-acceptance by uncovering her genuine identity and
incorporating her previous identity as a component of herself that she does not have to reject or
conceal.
