This research is about and type of metaphors and how they dealt the metaphor with metaphor translation strategies applied in the song lyrics Evermore album by Taylor Swift. This research aims to discover the type of metaphors and the metaphor translation strategies based on Newmark’s perspective in the song lyrics from English into Thai. The research method used by the researcher is text analysis and translation in order to provide detailed explanations about the data findings and information on the data. The result of this research shows that there are 17 data that are found as metaphors in the song lyrics, and five types of metaphors are found, including dead metaphor, stock or standard metaphor, cliché metaphor, recent metaphor, and original metaphor. Meanwhile, six of seven metaphor translation strategies are found in this research. Two strategies most widely used strategy in translating by the translator are the metaphor is reproduced the same image in target language, and the metaphor is replaced with a standard target language that does not clash with target language’s culture. However, the metaphor is translated into simile plus meaning strategy is not found. In conclusion, the factor those strategies are frequently used is that the translator tries to maintain the structure and cohesiveness of the lyrics by maintaining the metaphor.
