Translation Equivalence Of Islamic Terms In The Translated Novel “Negeri 5 Menara”

This thesis is aimed to know the translation procedures and the translation
equivalence used by translator in Islamic terms in the novel Negeri 5 Menara by Ahmad
Fuadi. This research used qualitative method. The theory of the translation procedure
proposed by Peter Newmark and the theory of the translation equivalence proposed by
Nida. The result showed that there were 21 data of Islamic terms. Beside, the researcher
found six procedure from 18 procedure, that appear namely, transference, Literal
translation, Descriptive Equivalent, Shift Translation, Naturalization, and Couplet. And
than the researcher found two equivalence theory by Nida they are Formal equivalence
and dynamic equivalence.
