This research purpose of examining gender equality that developed from Mary Jackson and Levi Jackson as The Jackson couple and the form of non-traditional family that was constructed in their family. This research uses the film theory of David Bordwell and Kristina Thompson and the liberal feminism theory of Betty Friedan. The researcher uses the qualitative method and data descriptive analysis technique to discover the findings. The data was collected from the scenes, cinematography, and dialogues from the film. According to the research findings, this research discovered how is androgyny characteristic appears and how they construct the form of a non-traditional family from “The Jackson” as an African- American couple in Hidden Figures film. The results of this research show that the androgyny characteristic that appears in Mary and Levi are they both maintaining their characteristic of their feminity and masculinity well both in domestic and public spheres. It also shows how The Jackson family brings their family into a sex role revolution that creates a form of sharing their responsibilities in homemaking, nurturing their children, burden earning and also supporting each other to get out from the patriarchal polarization of sex. In the end, Mary can still pursue her participation in society through her career, and Levi can break the stigma of being a breadwinner. Finally, this research concludes that sharing the support, love, and strength between women and men in balancing their responsibility and equality will allow them to build a new harmonious family form free from the polarization of the sex role in life.
