This research aims to show the post-traumatic stress disorders experienced by Starr Carter in The Hate U Give novel. The method used in this research is qualitative method and descriptive analysis. The writer also uses the Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, a book by Gleen Schiraldi in order to get more understanding about PTSD. The data collected from the scenes and dialogue from the novel The Hate U Give. In this research the writer found four symptoms experienced by Starr in the novel. The first is event re-experienced, Starr keeps having nightmares and flashbacks about the night of the event. The second is arousal, Starr gets hypervigilance and sensitised nervous system when she meets something that makes her remember about the incident. Third is self-recrimination, she feels guilty to Khalil and her family. Last is mood disturbances, she lost her trust to the police who were supposed to protect them. In conclusion, the main character is experiencing symptoms of PTSD, which are hypervigilance, nauseous, flashbacks, and mood disturbance. In addition, the symptoms that Starr experienced lead to changes in Starr’s personality
