This thesis explores moral degradation in Okky Madasari‟s the Last Crowd from a moral viewpoint. By engaging with moral studies, this thesis aims to evaluate the aesthetic strategies that the author uses to portray moral degradation in text. The discussion of the thesis is divided into two parts. The first part describes the aesthetic strategies used to show moral degradation in text. Then, the second part of the thesis describes how the text questions moral degradation by exploring issues of corruption, infidelity, and juvenile delinquency. The result of this study discovers that the author uses satire, sarcasm, and irony to question moral degradation in text. The satire used by ridiculing people who standardize higher education, the more he will be considered a clean and honest person; meanwhile, the text depicts the contrary. Indeed, the text also questions the indication of corruption by government officials by satire that government officials can‟t have fancy things with their standard income. Furthermore, sarcasm uses to satire Prof. Sukendar, an intellectual man who does immorality. Meanwhile, the irony uses to satire Jayanegara and Kara, who are proud after committing such crimes. These findings highlight the importance of morality in a social context
