This study aims to explain the discursive strategies employed in the discourse on Black Lives Matter movement created by Fox News’ Tucker Carlson in the Tucker Carlson Tonight program while revealing its connection to the socio-political condition of the United States in 2020. The method used in this study is the qualitative method using the explanatory approach of Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The three analytical aspects of Fairclough’s CDA is examined in this study: text, discursive practices, and sociocultural practices analysis. Also, in line with Fairclough’s CDA, this study utilizes Michael Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistics in revealing the metafunctional assessment of sentences in the text analysis, and Stephen Toulmin’s guideline of defining the generic structure of an argument. The results show that Carlson’s discourse in representing BLM is persuasive, assertive, communicative, and heavily carries political undertone. The discursive strategies employed include repetition, dominant use of material and relational process, passivation, and amplification of negative effects and representation. It is also revealed that the focus on BLM’s rising popularity reflects the importance of that year. It validates the significance of securing popular votes and the obligation of a necessary response against any threats that challenges one’s side of the political spectrum and the sacred dichotomy of American politics
