This thesis aims to observe the lies and id domination of the main character in Nancy (2018) film through characterization and psychoanalysis approach related to personality structure theory. This research is using qualitative method and descriptive analysis technique to analyze the character using the theory of Petrie and Boggs’s character and characterization, and the psychological problem of the main character using the psychoanalysis theory of Sigmund Freud. The research finds that Nancy as the main character in Nancy Film experiences character changing after she meets Leo and Ellen Lynch as she sees them as her parent’s figure projection. Nancy's personality becomes abnormal because of the absence of a family figure in her life. Nancy's father left her and her mother before she was born, therefore her mother committed to having men drink alcohol and have fun together at their house once Nancy still a child. Due to that experience, Nancy’s personality structure dominated with id has an obsession to have complete parents and complete love from a family. Nancy considers arranging all fake stories about her life to get attention from other people around her to fulfill the id impulses.
