The aim of the study is to analyze the translation equivalence in the subtitle of children movie Moana based on the theory of Nida and Taber. It identifies the idioms in the subtitle of Moana, as the main character in Moana movie, and analyzes the use of translation equivalence in it through descriptive qualitative method to find the results. All data are collected from the subtitle of the movie and the scene to find out the context. From the analysis, it finds that most of the idioms in Moana’s subtitle are emphasized toward dynamic equivalence and the translator sometimes reduces some words to save place or adds some words if they are too short to the subtitles for the concerns of the essences of movie translation. In conclusion, the data shows dynamic equivalence is used in most of the data and only one formal equivalence is found in the data. The uses of translation equivalence affected the meaning of idiom and phrasal verb become more natural.
