This research is a deconstructive analysis of the two main protagonists in the novel entitled The Unquiet Dead by Ausma Zehanat Khan. This analysis used character and characterization theories from several theorists to reveal the form of the characters of Esa Khattak and Rachel Getty as well as deconstruction theory, especially the concept of Binary Opposition in an effort to find binary oppositions in the form of characteristics within the main protagonists named Esa Khattak and Rachel Getty. Based on the data analysis, it is concluded that the two main protagonists are round characters because they have many characteristics that are shown throughout the text and there is a binary in the characters of Esa Khattak and Rachel Getty that dominate the text and oppositions that were marginalized
