This research aims to analyze the irony found in Ed Sheeran’s Divide Album by selecting nine songs, which are Eraser, Dive, Shape of You, Happier, New Man, What Do I Know?, Supermarket Flowers, Nancy Mulligan, and Save Myself to disclose the meaning and to know what kind of emotion emerge from those songs. This research uses a semantics study by Geoffrey Leech. The research method is qualitative, and the type of the research is descriptive. The corpus of the data is Divide album by Ed Sheeran that was released in 2017. The technique of data collection used is the library technique by collecting the data from nine selected songs in Divide album, sorting the data that relate to the problem, and providing the selected data to be analyzed. The writer uses Irony Theory by Roger Kreuz and Emotion Theory by Zoltán Kövecses as the concept to support the analysis. The result of this research is several types of irony found in nine selected songs. They are verbal irony and sarcasm, situational irony, and cosmic irony. Each irony has its own role to influence the whole meaning of the song lyrics by expressing the emotion from the composer’s feelings.
