This research aims to analyze the strategies of culture-specific-items translation contained in the articles of Indonesia tourism website: eastjava.com, which is focused on the cultural aspect in the target language (TL). This research was begun by searching for culture-specific items and their translation from the website. Later, put them based on the cultural terms categorizations popularized by Newmark. Next, qualitative methods is used to find out the particular factors that influence the choice of translation strategies used in translating these items. To examine the strategies of culture-specific items translation, Harvey's theory that focused on the culture-bound translation is used. The results show that 16 tourism-related culture-specific items are found in the SL with their translations, and there are 5 translation strategies employed by the translator in rendering these items: transference, literal translation, recognized translation, equivalent and labeling. Literal translation was the most frequently used strategy, as it features 7 times in the data since its considered the easier way to handle the CSI translation. However, the choice of a completely literal translation strategy is debatable because the meaning of the given CSI is not clear.
