This research aims to reveal the effects of translation strategies on the translation accuracy of Indonesian idiomatic expressions into English in the novel Kerumunan Terakhir by Okky Madasari, which is translated into The Last Crowd by Nurhayat Indriyatno Mohamed. The writer employs qualitative research and Translation Quality Assessment (TQA) to conduct this research. The instrument of this research is the writer herself by reading, noting, categorizing, analyzing and concluding the data. This study is based on Prihantini’s theory of idiom types, Baker’s theory of translation strategies, and Nababan’s theory of translation accuracy. The result shows that the translator applied four strategies in transferring idiomatic expressions from the source language (SL) into the target language (TL). The most frequent strategy is using idioms of similar meaning but different form, followed by using idioms of similar meaning and forms, paraphrasing, and omitting a play on the idiom strategies. Since the translated idioms are mostly accurate, the result displays that the translated novel is categorized as a good translation. However, the translated novel still contains almost accurate and inaccurate translations. The almost accurate translation needs rewriting to make the meaning more precise, while the inaccurate translation should be changed since it does not convey the idea accurately.
