The phenomenon that men get disadvantaged by being treated differently has become a topic that has been widely analyzed by researchers. Sexism is no longer only a bad effect on women, but also on men. Many literary works show how sexism and how single father as a victim of sexism that bring difficulties to their choice. This study will analyze how Matt combats sexist society. Matt experiences sexism by those around him who think that his male self will not be able to take care of his daughter. This study uses the theory of Swim & Hyers (2009) about sexist society and supported with the concept of men as the victims of sexism by Digby (2003). The study finds out that people there perceive Matt and men are not able to take care of their children which is the old sexist thought. However, it is also found that Matt embattles this in two ways, namely verbal and action. Matt uses sarcasm or explains that he can take care of Maddy and shows that he is capable of caring for Maddy into adulthood.
