This research focused on the translation procedure in translating cultural untranslatability words in the novel “The Chocolate Kiss” by Laura Florand translated into Bahasa by Veronica Sri Utami. The objectives of this reasearch is to know what kind of translation procedure used to translating the cultural untranslatability words of the novel. This research used qualitative approach and the concept used two theories: first, cultural untranslatability words theory by New Mark and second, translation procedure by Vinay and Darbelnet theory. All of the data are collected after reading the sourch language and target language novel, by marking the cultural untranslatability words, selecting and analyzing the cultural untranslatability words based on Vinay and Darbelnet theory about translation procedure, then clacified them into cultural words categories.
It is found that, there are 20 cultural untranslatability words, and found all cultural untranslatability words categories through New Mark. one word for ecology flora, one word for ecology fauna, five words for material culture food, one word for material culture clothe, one word for material culture house and town, one word for material culture transportation, four words for social culture, one word for organisation culture political administration, one word for organisation culture religious, one word for organisation culture artistic, and three words for gesture and habits. This research also found three translation procedures, which 16 cultural words use borrowing translation procedures, 3 cultural words use calque translation procedures, and 1 cultural words use literal translation procedures. Material culture and borrowing translation procedure are the most dominant in this research. Keywords: Culture, Procedure, Translation, Untranslatability.
