This research focuses on the translation method used in the two Indonesian translation of novel frankenstein. The method applied in this research is qualitative by using Nida and Taber‘s theory of translation process and Peter newmark‘s translation method theory. The objectives of this research are to discover the translation method used by two translators in translating the novel frankenstein and to know which method of translation that dominate to give effect of loss and gain information. The researcher collects the data by reading the original novel frankenstein and its two Indonesian translation. After collecting the data, the researcher analyzes ten data taken from the translated novel using newmark‘s translation method theory and identify which method dominated the effect of loss and gain in translation. As a result, the researcher found that the translation 1 done by Anton adiwiyoto is prefer to use target language-oriented translation methods whilst Reinitha as the translator of translation 2 used a wider range of translation methods, with source language emphasis translation method such as semantics translation method and faithful translation method being the most popular. For the problem loss and gain, it is mostly appeared in a frankenstein novel translated by Anton adiwiyoto where the loss information occurred the most.
