This study discusses the role of library managers in motivating the reading interest of deaf students at the SLB-B Pangudi luhur Library, Jakarta. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of library managers and the obstacles in motivating reading interest, especially for deaf students. The type of research used is descriptive with a qualitative approach and uses a case study method. The technique used in data collection is interviews and literature review. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study found that library managers described their role in motivating deaf students' reading interest through compulsory library visits including: library managers telling storytelling using picture books, library managers carrying out composing activities for imagining students and library managers working with teachers through mading activities. When there are obstacles in the process of absorbing the language of their ears and difficulties in eliciting emotions such as anxiety, fear, anger and depression as well as low communication resulting in a lack of self-confidence, the activities carried out by library managers make students motivated in reading. In addition, the constraints iv experienced by library managers in motivating students include the lack of human resources and the lack of availability of new books. To support and make it easier to motivate the reading interest of deaf students, SLB-B Pangudi luhur Jakarta applies the oral/aural verbal communication method in their daily communication.
