An analysis of the main female character on the basis of sex film: feminist film critic

The research analyzes the female character in the film On the Basis of Sex,
Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This research aims to understand how female character is
described in the film and how female character described according to feminist
film critic. The writer uses a qualitative analysis method. This research focus on
the female character, which uses theory character and characterization in film and
using feminist film critic. As the result, Ruth has many characteristics as
ambitious, smart, caring person, hard worker, and responsible. Even though, Ruth
is strong women, but she still need male character and depend on her husband,
although she is shown in the action genre and takes an important role in the story.
Because her husband take an important role in supporting and helping her in any
situation. Also, in this film women still be a sexual being and experience of sexual
harassment. Finally, this film approves that female character was cannot separated
from male role in this film, and still difficult to aside from female stereotype.
