This study is aimed at investigating the hierarchy of human needs in ‘The
Company Men Movie’, especially self-esteem fulfillment is portrayed viewed
from Abraham H. Maslow’s theory. The study focuses on the main character named
Robert Walker usually called Bobby. The study used five levels of hierarchy
needs of Abraham Maslow’s theory. Those five levels of hierarchy needs
were first physiological, second safety, third love or belongingness, fourth
self-esteem, and fifth self-actualization. The study applied a qualitative
descriptive method. The study found that in fulfilling his life needs, Bobby
experienced a poor relationship with the surrounding environment which is
portrayed in the five levels of hierarchy needs. When the trimmings of
success began to disappear, Bobby began to experience the pressures of life
and live with the dynamics of life without luxury which is shown in selfesteem
fulfillment through prestige in confidence, respect of others and
achievement. From the series of plots, it can be concluded that Bobby's selfesteem
was
once not fulfilled. But he did three ways to maintain and regain
his self-esteem; by not letting others know about his dismissal from GTX,
mentioning the achievements he had achieved, and discussing things that
made him confident such as his favorite sports activity, namely golf.
