This thesis aims to discover the striving for superiority of Eddie Morra, the main character of Limitless (2011) movie, directed by Neil Burger and produced by Virgin. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods, by analyzing the data found in the Limitless movie that is related to Eddie Morra’s demeanor. The data are collected from the narrative of the scripts and pictures from the movie. The result of the research showed that Eddie Morra has an inferiority feeling which he later compensates through striving for superiority. Through analyzing the occurrence, it is discovered that Morra's inferiority feelings are caused by his physical deficiency, inferiority in relationship, and inferiority in social and economic status. However, his life drastically changed after he introduced to an illegal drug called NZT which affects brain function and makes the consumer capable of using a hundred percent of their brain capability. Therefore, through using NZT, Morra started striving for superiority in physical ability and appearance, superiority in relationship, and overcompensation in social and economic status. In conclusion, Eddie Morra has succeeded in overcoming his inferiority feeling through the use of NZT and improving his life situation through striving for superiority. The data obtained is then further analyzed using Alfred Adler’s individual psychology theory.
