The Analysis of Repair in the Interview Videos with Broca’s

By Schegloff’s theory of Conversation Analysis, this research is aimed to
identify the types and positions of repair in conversation analysis which occurs in
the three interview videos with Sarah Scott as the Broca’s aphasia sufferer; and
also to describe the development of the use of repair in Sarah Scott’s utterances
from one video to the other videos of her interview.
The method of this research is qualitative method. The data are obtained
from three interview videos with Broca’s aphasia sufferer in 2010, 2011, and
2012. Based on the data obtained, there are only 22 data that will be analyzed
which contain 24 types of repair chosen by using purposive sampling, because
there are some data which have the same pattern. The findings proven that the
common type of repair is self-initiated self-repair with the position of repair is in
the same turn of trouble source. The findings also describe that the development
of the use of repair in Sarah’s utterance is getting better from one to another
video, even though her speech improvement is slight
