The research is aimed to know about code switching and code mixing phenomenon in the transcript of ‘Breakout’ program on Net TV channel by using Poplack and Hoffman’s theory. The Objectives of this research are to find out the types and the functions of code switching and code mixing from the transcript of the ‘Breakout’ program on Net TV channel. The method used in this research is qualitative method. And the technique of collecting data used descriptive analytic by collecting and analyzing the data. In this research, the researcher analyzes fifty six cases of twenty conversation that selected contain of code switching and code mixing, with thirty four of them identified as code switching and twenty two identified as code mixing cases. The results of this research show that there are many cases of code switching and code mixing which are found in the utterances from Indonesian people, especially who has bilingual background. Besides that, code switching and code mixing used by Indonesian people especially in metropolitan and educated society because of their prestige motive.
