A conversation is a speech event that occurs between speaker and listener. The term turn-taking is related to the changing role of participants that changes continuously. Turn-taking is the changing role of the speaker and listener that changes continuously. The person who speaks first becomes the speaker, then the listener starts talking and takes the turn to talk in conversation.
The purpose of this research is to discover the type of turn-taking pattern in the Interview of Desi Anwar and Bill Gates on "Face To Face With Desi Anwar." The method of this study is using a qualitative descriptive approach.
The result of the study shows that the type of turn-taking that is most widely used by speakers and listeners in the Interview between Desi Anwar and Bill Gates getting. Where the speaker deliberately allows speaking or answering questions to the listener. Therefore, listeners get the chance to speak, or turn-taking is based on the speaker's will or as desired. Meanwhile, the turn-taking mechanism most often used by speakers and listeners is taking over. The listener takes over the conversation by waiting for the speaker to stop talking. Meanwhile, in this Interview, overlapping between speakers and listeners also rarely happens.
