The research aims to investigate how nature is presented, what kind of human attitude the character demonstrates, and how the depictions of both natures, which is nature outside the city and nature in Theedville, are interconnected with technology. I analyze by using an approach to the nature on the film Dr. Seuss the Lorax directed by Chris Renaud in 2012. Nature and technology on the film are analyzed by applying the technological concepts of Robet Costanza; Technology Optimist and Technology Pessimist. Based on the research findings, the analysis discovers a considerably deep environmental value embedded in Dr.Seuss the Lorax in which nature is represented through a symbolism of paradise and death; the characters demonstrate the lack of human attitudes towards nature as it is represented from their behavior towards nature. Moreover, the interconnection between nature and technology based on Ted's inappropriate experience between the city of Theedville and outside the city lead to a lack of understanding between the two interconnected concepts of ecocritic and technology, and how totalitarian governments undermine relationships between human and nature by using sophisticated technology. As a conclusion, this film illustrates the impact that entails due to overuse of technology, and how nature can be improved, by reforesting damaged areas, and respecting the environment.
