This study discusses the experience of being a "king" at the dining table at the presentation of rijsttafel at Hotel Des Indes, Batavia 1900-1958. The presentation of rijsttafel at Hotel Des Indes is present as a place for European and Indigenous elites to enjoy food with a presentation that provides a wonderful experience. Why does the rijsttafel dish make guests a "King" at Hotel Des Indes. In answering the above statement the writer uses the Historical method with the theory of Class Taste and Life-styles and Experience and uses the Sociology of Culture approach. The findings in this study indicate that the presentation of rijsttafel at Hotel Des Indes is a place for European and Indigenous elites to eat food in a way like the "King" that is being served. Through the findings of a book specially made by the hotel in commemoration of 50 years of Hotel Des Indes which contains history, photos, letters, and data of staff who worked based on the Dutch East Indies period, the Japanese invasion until the post-war (independence).
