This study aims to show how social criticism in the community is presented in The Giver movie. The method used is descriptive-qualitative. To support this analysis, the researcher uses the concept of literary sociology by Wallek and Warren. The results show there are two social criticisms portrayed in the movie; First, social criticism of technology that erases society's emotions and feelings. Second, social criticism of technology that erases society's past memories. In conclusion, human life cannot be regulated and determined by technology and other humans. In creating a good society, there is no need to control people, erase past memories and also eliminate emotions even people's feelings, but cooperation and togetherness are needed. Just let them choose their path and let them learn to accept the consequences of what they have done and chosen. Therefore, technology in The Giver movie gives a bad impact on the condition of society
