This research discusses about the illocutionary act that is generated in the transcript
text interview of Jacinda Ardern as Prime Minister of New Zealand with two
interviewer in different occasion which are Waleed Aly in one of TV program
named The Project and Clive Myrie in BBC News by using John R. Searle's
illocutionary act theory. The purposes of this research are analyze the type of
illocutionary act and understand how the illocutionary act uttered in the Interview,
directly or indirectly. The results of the study show from both of Interview, the
researcher found four types of illocutionary act in fourty one data which are; first,
twenty four data of representative illocutionary act indicate stating, describing,
affirming, and concluding. Second, eleven data of expressive illocutionary act
indicate thanking, welcoming, greeting and expressive feeling. Third, five data of
directive illocutionary act indicate advicing, requesting, permitting and insist
utterances and the last, one data of commissive illocutionary act indicates
promising. Moreover, from fourty one data, there is only one data conveyed
indirectly and the rest of them conveyed directly, this is because the data found in
conversation that is why direct utterances are frequently used in this research.
